What is Integrative Medicine?

The Integrative Medical approach utilizes the best of both worlds: conventional medicine and complementary/alternative medicine–providing optimum treatments for maximizing health. Instead of the traditional disease-centered focus of conventional medicine, Integrative Medicine applies a patient-centered approach that addresses the whole person rather than simply his/her symptoms.  In the words of colleague Dr. Sherri Tenpenny, Integrative Medicine gives the practitioner “more tools in their toolbox.”

Integrative Medicine is used to treat a variety of medical conditions

  • Adrenal Fatigue
  • Allergies
  • Andropause
  • Autoimmune Disorders (lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, etc)
  • Cancer
  • Cardiovascular Disease
  • Chronic Pain
  • Diabetes
  • Menopause
  • Menstrual Disorders
  • Mental Health
  • Thyroid Disorders

Dr. Burton’s approach to Integrative Medicine combines the discipline of modern science with the wisdom of ancient healing.  It takes advantage of multiple disciplines including naturopathic, naprapathic, homeopathic, Chinese medicine and energy medicine therapies. She works in concert with integrative/holistic dentists, Integrative psychologists, reiki therapists, chiropractors, ayurvedic physical therapists, naturopaths, and acupuncturists.  Dr. Burton was inspired by the works of Drs. William Crook, MD author of “The Yeast Connection”, Theron Randolph, MD author of “The Alternative Approach To Allergies”,  and Andrew Weil, MD author of numerous books and Director of the Center of Integrative Medicine-University of Arizona.

The primary goal of Dr. Burton is to provide her patients with alternative options to better health and well-being.
