Meet Doctor Burton

Ann Y. Burton, MD, is an Integrative Medicine Specialist and has been practicing physician for over twenty years. Dr. Burton trained in out-patient Primary Care Internal Medicine and specializes in Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Holistic Medicine, Environmental Medicine (allergies, chemical and mold sensitivities), Endocrine Dysfunction (thyroid, hormone treatments), Mental Health-Cognitive Therapy, and Energy Medicine. Dr. Burton now operates a “one person” Wellness Clinic with a strong emphasis on prevention, nutritional and lifestyle modifications. Dr. Burton applies a “functional” medicine approach and recognizes the importance of the mind-body connection.

Before entering medical school, Dr. Burton was already a member of an organization called “The Michigan Holistic Association”. She is a graduate of Kalamazoo College where she majored in psychology and focused in pre-med studies. Her “conventional” medical training took place at Ross University School of Medicine and The Medical College of Ohio. Dr. Burton completed Primary Care Internal Medicine residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, and received additional training in occupational and environmental medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she worked as Chief Resident. After completion of her residency programs, Dr. Burton worked in several locations around the country and served as Medical Director for automobile assembly plants in Indiana and Illinois.

Growing up in a household which emphasized service to others and her country, Dr. Burton is proud to have been an enlisted soldier and commissioned officer. She is a retired Captain of U.S. Army Reserves and has worked in VA and military installations throughout the Midwest and the south. Dr. Burton also has a background in home care and occupational medicine.

Her Integrative Medicine training continues to evolve and become more comprehensive over time. Certification includes natural and herbal medicine training from Dr. Tierona Low Dog, MD, and Energy Medicine from the International College of BioEnergetic Medicine. Dr. Burton has completed Frequency Specific Microcurrent(FSM) training with Dr. Carolyn McMakin, DC. She has also obtained additional training in bioidentical hormone replacement(BHRT) from American Academy of Anti-Aging (A4M). Dr. Burton is certified for IV/detox/chelation therapy by the American College of Advanced Medicine (ACAM). Dr. Burton is a member of the national Integrative Health Policy Consortium. She recently became Board Member of the International College of Integrative Medicine.
